Infanrix Hexa is a hexavalent combination vaccine by GSK, designed for infants and toddlers to induce active immunity against six critical childhood diseases—diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (acellular), hepatitis B, poliomyelitis (inactivated), and Haemophilus influenzae type b—in a single 0.5 ml prefilled syringe.
Administered via deep intramuscular injection (typically in the anterior thigh for infants, upper arm for older children) according to standard immunization schedules, often at 6, 10, and 14 weeks for the primary series, followed by a booster at around 12–23 months.
Each dose contains defined quantities of antigens including diphtheria toxoid (30 IU), tetanus toxoid (40 IU), pertussis components (toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin), hepatitis B surface antigen (rDNA, 10 µg), poliovirus types 1–3, and Hib capsular polysaccharide (10 µg)
Infanrix Hexa simplifies immunization by reducing the number of injections, offering convenience for caregivers and better compliance, while maintaining high immunogenicity.
